The chestnut, a fruit that gives peach!
Rich in fiber, vitamins and antioxidants, the chestnut has it all!
• It is a super starchy food
Chestnut is made up of 50% water and 36% carbohydrates, mainly starch like in potatoes, pasta or rice, but twice as much! It is particularly energetic with a contribution of 190 kcal per 100 g.
• To fill up on fiber
It has a fiber content four times higher than the potato. When eaten cooked, its fibers are non-irritating, smoothly activate transit and have a preventive effect against colon cancer.
• It boosts the intake of vitamins
Even when cooked, chestnuts provide a quarter of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C per 100g of fruit. A vitamin particularly useful for defending against infections and warding off fatigue. It also contains almost all the vitamins of the B group, in particular B6 and B9, essential for a good memory and useful for the immune system.
• Exceptional antioxidant properties
It is the most concentrated plant in ellagic and gallic acids, which are polyphenols. Associated with manganese, copper and vitamin C, they give chestnuts a strong antioxidant activity, which prevents premature aging of cells and protects the heart and arteries from cardiovascular diseases.
